TOHC Contribution: Transforming Maternal Health in Sierra Leone

The Oxford Health Company has made an extraordinary commitment to Life for African Mothers, demonstrating that corporate responsibility can create tangible, life-saving impact.

Product Donation:

TOHC donated one million supplements and prenatal vitamins to strengthen and nourish pregnant women across Sierra Leone. These essential nutrients help combat anaemia and malnutrition—major contributors to maternal mortality.

Financial Support:

TOHC also made a significant financial contribution that directly funds our core initiatives: purchasing life-saving misoprostol medication, training midwives in emergency obstetric care, and providing maternal delivery boxes for safe births outside hospital settings in Sierra Leone.

The Impact

TOHC's prenatal supplements combat malnutrition during pregnancy, whilst their funding ensures midwives have the training and medication needed to prevent postpartum haemorrhage—the leading cause of maternal death in Sub-Saharan Africa. The maternal delivery boxes enable safe births in remote communities where hospital access is limited.

What motivated The Oxford Health Company to support Life for African Mothers, and why is maternal health in Sub-Saharan Africa important to your organisation?

We saw a chance to do more than sell vitamins - we could help save lives. Maternal health in places like Sub-Saharan Africa isn’t just a statistic to us; it’s a real gap where our skills, products and reach can make a difference. If we can help mothers stay strong, healthy, and avoid risks in pregnancy, that’s exactly what drives TOHC every day.

2

You donated one million supplements to pregnant mothers in Sierra Leone. What does that number mean to you personally?

One million isn’t just a cool headline. It’s a million chances. To me, it means we’re not talking small scale or just ticking a box. Every one of those supplements might be the thing that helps a mother stay healthy, avoid complications and deliver safely. If even one life is different because of it, it’s worth doing.

3

If you could speak directly to the mothers who will receive these supplements, what would you want them to know?

We understand that carrying a child under challenging conditions and with all kinds of obstacles is not easy. These supplements are sent to you because people care and we hope for your strength, for your wellness and for the safe delivery of your baby.

Know that every time you take them, you are doing something powerful - not just for your baby but for yourself. Your health matters. You matter.

4

How has this partnership changed the way your team thinks about the products you create every day?

This partnership has grounded us. As we grow and innovate, it can be easy to focus on product lines and margins but working with Life for African Mothers has reminded every team member that at the end of the supply chain are real people whose lives can be transformed by what we do. It's encouraged us to think more about accessibility, durability, formulation and about packaging and distribution to ensure nothing gets wasted.

It’s also reinforced our responsibility - not just to make excellent products but to make products that matter and to do so ethically and sustainably.

5

Your company has experienced incredible growth. How important is giving back to causes like this as you continue to expand?

Massively important. Growth is exciting but without purpose it’s empty. For me, giving back is part of TOHC’s identity, it keeps us humble and rooted. And honestly, when you see the impact - a mother saved, a baby born healthy - that’s more fulfilling than any sales metric.
